.
I spent hours on Ravelry (www.ravelry.com) trying to find the perfect fingerless gloves for myself. I found that I liked medium length, no thumb, and checkering. I couldn't find a pattern with all of these components, so I made one myself. And here it is! On my pattern website! I hope you enjoy it. :)
These are seamed gloves. I was going to make them in the round, but it is much easier to make them seamed! I will use Perfection by Kraemer Yarns, 30% Superwash Merino, 70% Acrylic yarn with U.S.size 8 needles. I have medium sized hands, so I cast on 60 stitches.
Cast on 60 (Make 2- same patter just fold in half where the seam is on the left for left hand and on the right for right hand.)
Start ribbing P4, K4; repeat for a couple rows until glove measures 1 inch.
Then alternate between these new rows #1 and #2 so that they make a checkered pattern.
#1 P2, K2 till end of row.
Then next row:
#2 K2, P2 till end of row.
And so on.
#2 K2, P2 till end of row.
Then back to #1.#1 P2, K2 till end of row
Keep alternating between #1 and #2 until 2 inches before appropriate length. It will create a pattern of shapes similar to a chess board.
When 1 inch before appropriate length, begin ribbing, alternating P4, K4.
Bind off.
Seam:
Sew up the side* until you reach where the thumb hole should be. Leave a hole big enough for your thumb. Tie off before hole, then start again above. Tie off and you're done!
*[Sew with a yarn needle and same yarn that you used for the glove-saying that for the beginners in seaming :)]
